BergWerk Berlin
Description
BergWerk Berlin is one of Germany’s most remarkable indoor adventure attractions, housed within the repurposed cinemas of the Helle Mitte shopping centre in Berlin’s Hellersdorf district. Opened in 2012, the park transformed 4,000 square metres of former cinema space into an atmospheric world of adventure inspired by the underground mining heritage suggested by its name. Visitors descend from daylight at the top of the facility through progressively darker and more dramatic environments that evoke the look and feel of a working mine, before emerging back into the light after navigating a series of increasingly challenging aerial courses. The park is home to ten distinct courses designed to suit every age and ability, ranging from the BergWerk Mini, designed for children from three years old, to the BergWerk Alpinista, which climbs the exterior walls of the shopping centre to a vertiginous height of 25 metres. In total, guests can navigate more than 74 climbing elements and nearly a kilometre of course track. A 40-metre zip line provides a thrilling high-speed finale to the main Gipfelstürmer course, while the BergWerk Freifall offers the option of a 12-metre controlled freefall for those seeking an extra rush of adrenaline. Because the entire experience is indoors, BergWerk Berlin operates 365 days a year regardless of weather, making it an ideal destination in rain, snow, or sunshine. All safety systems are operated using the IAPA-certified continuous belay standard, and staff are trained to guide guests of all abilities through the experience. The park is easily reached from central Berlin in approximately 25 minutes on the U5 metro line. Group events, birthday parties, corporate team-building sessions, and exclusive evening bookings are all available.
