Jamavar Bengaluru
Description
Jamavar at The Leela Palace Bengaluru holds the distinction of being the original restaurant in what has become India’s most iconic royal Indian dining brand, established in 2001 and expanded since to Mumbai, Goa, New Delhi, Chennai, and London. Named after the exquisite brocade shawls of Kashmir, the restaurant was designed as an embodiment of the Leela’s philosophy of Atithi Devo Bhava, where the guest is revered as God. The dining room is an exceptional expression of this philosophy, with intricate traditional paintings embellished with pure gold leaf, hand-carved wooden screens, paisley-adorned carpets, enormous crystal chandeliers, double-height ceilings, and glittering silver table settings that belong in a palace rather than a restaurant. The Leela Palace Bengaluru itself sits within a 7.5-acre sanctuary of lush gardens inspired by the grandeur of the Vijayanagara Empire, providing a backdrop of regal tranquillity for what is always a deeply considered meal. The menu is an expansive exploration of India’s royal kitchens, from the melt-in-the-mouth Galauti Kebab and the intense Raan-e-Jamavar to the definitive black dal and the iconic Murgh Makhani. Jamavar has been recognised with a Michelin star and features consistently on the La Liste ranking of the world’s best restaurants, making it one of the most decorated Indian restaurants globally.
