Established in 1990, Karavalli has grown from a pioneering vision of South West coast cuisine to an enduring institution of Indian fine dining. Located within Vivanta Bengaluru on Residency Road, the restaurant is modelled on a traditional Mangalorean bungalow, complete with a thatched roof, dark wooden rafters, beaten brassware, colourful tiles, and alfresco seating surrounded by lush tamarind trees. This setting immediately transports guests to the coastal regions whose food the restaurant celebrates. The menu is built on decades of research, countless conversations with local communities, and the personal recipe diaries of home cooks from Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Ingredients such as cloves, cinnamon, pepper, home-grown chillies, freshest vegetables, and the finest seafood and meats are used to recreate age-old recipes with integrity and precision. Signature dishes include the ghee roast crab, Kerala prawn curry, and the legendary Karavalli fish preparations.
