Suvarna Mahal
Description
Suvarna Mahal at Rambagh Palace occupies what was once the ceremonial ballroom of the Maharaja of Jaipur, a space that has hosted royalty, dignitaries, and global icons for nearly two centuries. Today it is one of India’s most revered fine dining restaurants, having been crowned Best Hotel Restaurant in India at the World Culinary Awards for 2024, a recognition that reflects its consistent excellence across cuisine, service, and setting. The dining room is awe-inspiring, with high ceilings, enormous crystal chandeliers that once held candles, Florentine frescoes painted with vegetable pigments, silk walls, gold-dusted mirror frames and mouldings, and a single 82-foot Kashmir carpet of extraordinary beauty. Diners are attended by servers in traditional pink Rajasthani turbans, one per guest in the classical tradition of royal dining. The menu celebrates the royal cuisines of Rajasthan, Awadh, Punjab, and Hyderabad, with both a traditional Rajasthani Thali and an a la carte selection of signature dishes. Renowned dishes include the melt-in-the-mouth tandoori preparations, rich kebabs, a celebrated Dal Makhani, and an array of Rajasthani specialities prepared using old recipes and the freshest seasonal ingredients. Private dining is available in the Gazebo and the Chandni Chowk, offering intimate settings for celebratory meals. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and is highly recommended for both residents and non-resident guests.
