Baaya Design

Baaya Design is a trailblazing Mumbai-based design studio and retail experience centre founded in 2009 by NID Ahmedabad alumna Shibani Dasgupta Jain. Located at the Prathamesh Tower in Raghuvanshi Mills, Lower Parel, Baaya is a one-of-a-kind destination that bridges India’s rich artisan heritage with the needs of contemporary living spaces. Baaya works directly with skilled artisans across the country, specialising in over 70 traditional craft forms including Gond art, Kalamkari, Pichwai paintings, Madhubani, Warli art, Dokra metal casting, veneer inlay, Thangka art, blue pottery, and tribal folk art. The retail experience centre offers an immersive environment showcasing art, artefacts, lighting, furniture, bags, stoles, and home decor items, all rooted in authentic Indian craftsmanship. Beyond retail, Baaya Design operates as a spatial design consultancy, collaborating with architects and interior designers to create custom art installations, bespoke products, and culturally rich environments for hospitality, corporate, and residential projects. Baaya is a recipient of multiple design awards including India’s Best Spatial Design Studio 2020, and founder Shibani Jain has been recognised as India’s leading woman in arts and crafts. Craft workshops and community engagement form an important part of Baaya’s mission to sustain artisan livelihoods.
