Cateringross Società Cooperativa is Italy’s largest and most important independent foodservice wholesale organisation, founded on 9 July 1983 in Casalecchio di Reno, Bologna. As a cooperative with approximately 160 member companies spread across all Italian regions, Cateringross is the definitive voice of independent HoReCa wholesale distribution in Italy and a founding member of the European Catering Distributors (ECD) network. Each member operates independently within its territory, maintaining its own name, customer relationships, delivery fleet and regional identity, while benefiting from the centralised purchasing scale, private-label development and international supplier relationships of the cooperative structure. Together the network covers the entire Italian peninsula and islands, offering over 30,000 food and non-food product references to professional customers in restaurants, hotels, canteens, bars and institutional catering. Cateringross develops its own private-label brands for members and coordinates European purchasing programmes through its ECD membership. The cooperative’s model ensures that every member maintains genuine entrepreneurial independence — none is owned by or affiliated with any retail group, multinational distributor or non-food conglomerate.
