IEFP Lisboa – Instituto do Emprego e Formacao Profissional

The Instituto do Emprego e Formacao Profissional (IEFP) is Portugal’s principal public employment and vocational training service, operating under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security with regional delegations across the country, including its major Lisbon presence at Rua das Picoas. As the national body mandated to promote employability and improve the quality of the Portuguese workforce, IEFP operates a nationwide network of 30 Employment and Vocational Training Centres offering free or heavily subsidised certified training programmes across more than 100 professional qualification areas. Programmes available through the Lisbon delegation span information technology, healthcare assistance, business administration, logistics, construction trades, hospitality and catering, agriculture, and sustainable energy. IEFP’s online platform allows users to register as job seekers, explore training options, and manage their professional development journey remotely. The institute also delivers specialised support programmes including ATIVAR.PT (paid traineeships), the National Youth Guarantee scheme, and skills validation services for professionals with informally acquired competencies. For international graduates and migrants, IEFP provides recognition and equivalency guidance for foreign vocational qualifications.
