Loft Optiek is a distinctive independent optical boutique with stores in Ghent, Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Kortrijk, united by a single overriding passion: unique, handmade eyewear of the highest quality. The Ghent location at Henegouwenstraat 89 is the brand’s founding store, opened in 2016 by Tom Buysse, who grew up surrounded by frames and sunglasses and became passionate about the small, niche world of artisan eyewear. The store’s collection focuses on independent eyewear designers and artisan manufacturers whose frames reflect genuine creative vision, meticulous craftsmanship, and exceptional material quality. After a two-year search for the finest colors, sustainable materials, and traditional finishing techniques, Loft developed its own proprietary Loft Handmade Eyewear collection. Each pair in the collection is made entirely by hand in limited quantities, making every frame a genuinely individual object. Beyond its own label, Loft represents a carefully curated selection of independent international brands not typically available through mainstream optical retailers. Optometric services are integral to the Loft offer: qualified opticians and optometrists conduct thorough eye examinations and provide precise prescription lens fittings, ensuring that the technical performance of each pair matches its aesthetic quality. Frame repairs are handled in-house using specialist techniques. The Ghent store welcomes clients by appointment to ensure each visit receives the team’s full, undivided attention.
