Description

Casino di Venezia at Ca’ Vendramin Calergi holds the extraordinary distinction of being the world’s oldest casino in continuous operation, with documented gaming activity on this site dating back to 1638, making it a truly irreplaceable institution in the global history of gaming and entertainment. The casino is housed in one of the most magnificent palaces on Venice’s Grand Canal, Ca’ Vendramin Calergi, a masterpiece of Venetian Renaissance architecture completed in the early sixteenth century that also served as the final residence of composer Richard Wagner, who died there in 1883. The Winter Casino, as it is known, operates within the historic building and offers an atmospheric selection of live table games including roulette, blackjack, and baccarat in rooms of extraordinary grandeur, with ornate ceilings, Murano glass chandeliers, and priceless artworks creating an environment unlike any other casino in the world. The gaming floor also features electronic gaming machines and video poker terminals. Smart dress is required throughout the casino, and entry is restricted to visitors aged 18 and above with valid identification. Access to the casino from Venice’s main island is most atmospheric by water taxi or vaporetto to the Vendramin stop on the Grand Canal. The Summer Casino operates at a separate modern facility, Ca’ Noghera, near Marco Polo Airport.
