Narisawa is one of Tokyo’s most internationally celebrated fine dining restaurants, holding two Michelin stars and consistently ranked among the world’s best, including No. 21 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2025. Led by Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa, the restaurant has created and defined an entirely new culinary genre: Innovative Satoyama Cuisine, which draws inspiration from Japan’s satoyama — the rural zones between mountain foothills and flatland where humans and nature have historically coexisted in harmony. The tasting menu is an artistic and philosophical journey through the Japanese landscape, featuring seasonal ingredients sourced from carefully selected producers across the archipelago. Dishes are conceived to evoke forests, rivers, coastal ecosystems, and mountain villages, with an emphasis on biodiversity, sustainability, and environmental awareness that extends far beyond the plate. The presentation is meticulous and conceptually layered, with tableware made from traditional Japanese crafts — lacquerware, washi paper, and hand-forged knives — forming an integral part of the storytelling. The interior is serene and modern, allowing full attention to be given to the progression of courses. Chef Narisawa trained extensively in France and Switzerland before returning to Japan, and that European foundation is subtly woven into a cuisine that remains unmistakably Japanese in spirit. Narisawa celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023 with a renovation and an extended residency in Singapore, continuing to evolve as a global benchmark for purposeful, nature-driven fine dining.
