VEA Restaurant
Description
VEA Restaurant is a Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant located in The Wellington building in Central Hong Kong, occupying an intimate counter-style dining space on the 30th floor with sweeping views over the Central skyline. The restaurant is the personal project of Chef Vicky Cheng, a Hong Kong-born chef whose career took him through the kitchens of Daniel Boulud in New York before returning to his home city to create a culinary concept that is genuinely and profoundly his own. VEA — an acronym drawing on Cheng’s name and his culinary philosophy — presents a cuisine that engages deeply with the dialogue between French classical technique and Chinese culinary tradition, creating dishes that are neither French with Chinese garnishes nor Chinese with French technique applied superficially, but a genuinely integrated fusion in which both traditions contribute equally and authentically. The tasting menu is inventive and tightly edited, presenting a small number of courses executed with exceptional precision and depth of flavor. The open-kitchen counter concept creates an intimate connection between chef and guest that enhances the personal character of the dining experience. Service is attentive, personalized, and reflects the restaurant’s boutique scale. The wine list is carefully assembled. VEA has earned sustained Michelin recognition and regular appearance on the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list as a genuinely important and distinctive Hong Kong culinary voice.
