1×1 Art Gallery

1×1 Art Gallery is one of Dubai’s longest-standing and most culturally distinctive galleries, founded by Malini Gulrajani in 1996 with a commitment to bringing Indian modern and contemporary art to the UAE — a mission of particular significance given the close cultural and demographic ties between South Asia and the Gulf. In recent years the gallery has expanded its programme to include Emirati and Middle Eastern artists, building bridges between South Asian and regional contemporary practices. Located at Unit 10 of Alserkal Avenue in an impressive 7,500 sq ft warehouse space, the gallery supports its programme through a network of collaborations with international galleries, art fairs, museums, independent curators, and art organisations, consistently introducing artists to new audiences both within the UAE and globally. A dedicated bookstore within the gallery space focuses on South Asian art and literature, reinforcing the gallery’s role as a centre for cultural knowledge and community. 1×1 also hosts project-based experimental presentations, giving emerging artists opportunities to develop and exhibit ambitious new work. The gallery participates in international art fairs and maintains an active collaboration programme with global institutions. Open Saturday to Thursday, 10am to 7pm.
