Meem Gallery
Description
Meem Gallery is one of the most specialised and internationally respected galleries in the Arab art world, founded in 2007 by Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, Mishal Hamed Kanoo, and Charles Pocock. The gallery focuses on modern and contemporary Arab, North African, and Iranian art, dealing in both primary and secondary markets and running an ambitious solo and group exhibition programme with a particular emphasis on the region’s modern masters. Represented artists include Dia Azzawi, Kamal Boullata, Parviz Tanavoli, Mahmoud Said, Mahmoud Obaidi, and Zhivago Duncan, among others — artists whose positions within the canon of Arab and Iranian modern art are firmly established. Works by artists managed and promoted by Meem Gallery are held in the collections of some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, including the British Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Institut du Monde Arabe, Centre Pompidou, LACMA, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, and the Smithsonian Institution. Uniquely, Meem Gallery is located outside the Alserkal Avenue cluster, at Unit 1 of the Kanoo Compound on Umm Suqeim Road, Al Quoz 3 — providing a quieter, more focused environment for viewing significant works. Open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm. An essential specialist address for anyone seriously engaged with the modern and contemporary Arab art world.
