Tashkeel

Tashkeel is one of the UAE’s most important and innovative non-profit organisations for contemporary art and design, established in 2008 by Sheikha Lateefa bint Maktoum in Dubai. Operating across two locations — the main 2,800 sq m campus in Nad Al Sheba 1 and the Alserkal Makerspace at Unit 89, Alserkal Avenue — Tashkeel provides a comprehensive infrastructure for creative practitioners at all stages of their careers. The Nad Al Sheba facility houses a professional gallery alongside multi-disciplinary studio spaces for fine art, digital work, printmaking, photography, textile printing, 3D, and more, as well as a library and community spaces. Tashkeel operates on an open membership model, welcoming UAE-based artists, designers, and photographers into its working community. Its annual programme encompasses training courses, residencies, international fellowships, exhibitions, workshops, talks, and publications aimed at advancing practitioner development and public engagement with contemporary art. The Tanween design programme — a nine-month development initiative for emerging UAE-based designers — is among its most recognised initiatives, culminating in annual presentations at Dubai Design Week.
