Discover Children’s Story Centre

Discover Children’s Story Centre is an award-winning, one-of-a-kind cultural venue dedicated entirely to the magic of stories, language, and imagination for children from birth to 11 years old. Located in the heart of Stratford, East London, Discover spans multiple floors of purpose-built immersive play spaces inspired by children’s literature, folklore, and the natural world. At the core of the centre are the Story Worlds — richly designed, exploratory indoor environments where children can creep through secret caves, sail on pirate ships, find hidden sculptures, and climb into a house with chicken legs. An enclosed Story Garden extends the adventure outdoors with giant musical instruments, a slide down a monster’s tongue, and a treehouse. The centre’s Story Studio hosts a changing programme of interactive exhibitions created in partnership with celebrated authors and illustrators, including previous collaborations with Julia Donaldson, Michael Rosen, and Judith Kerr. Daily storytelling sessions led by skilled Story Builders — professional educators trained in performance and language development — are woven throughout the day, supporting literacy and communication skills through play. The centre is committed to inclusion, offering sensory-adapted sessions, a free weekly club for children with SEN and disabilities, regular BSL-interpreted events, and full step-free accessibility. Discover has received the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Marque from VisitBritain and was named one of London’s top five family days out by Time Out magazine.
