Description

The Moroccan Culinary Arts Museum, known by its acronym MCAM, is one of Marrakech’s most original and engaging cultural destinations. Located in a magnificent 18th-century palace in the heart of the medina, the museum spans 5,000 square metres across two interior courtyards and celebrates Morocco’s rich gastronomic traditions in an extraordinary architectural setting. The building features two grand patios paved with zellige mosaics, carved plaster, and cedar wood hand-painted in the zouaké style, preserved meticulously during a major restoration. The museum presents an immersive exploration of Moroccan cuisine from historical, regional, and sensory perspectives, covering everything from the origins of iconic dishes such as tagine and couscous to the role of spices, the tradition of Moroccan hospitality, and the techniques of renowned Fassi and Marrakchi cuisine. Interactive exhibits and live cooking demonstrations bring the subject to life, while guided tours in several languages are available for visitors seeking deeper insight. The MCAM also operates a cooking school offering hands-on classes for all skill levels. On-site dining options include Le Douar Médina, a rooftop restaurant serving authentic Moroccan cuisine with panoramic views, and a tea salon and boutique stocked with local spices, artisanal products, and culinary souvenirs. The museum is open every day from 9 AM to 8 PM and is suitable for families of all ages.
