Description

The Villa des Arts de Casablanca is one of the most distinguished contemporary art spaces in Morocco, managed since 1999 by the Fondation Al Mada, formerly known as the ONA Foundation. Set in a beautifully preserved 4,000 square metre Art Deco villa dating from 1934 on Boulevard Brahim Roudani, near the Parc de la Ligue Arabe, the institution serves as both a museum and a living platform for artistic creation, education, and cultural dialogue. The villa’s white neocolonial architecture and ornamental fountains make it one of the most photographically attractive venues in Casablanca. Its galleries feature a permanent collection of Moroccan modern and contemporary art, including works by acclaimed artists such as Farid Belkahia, Jilali Gharbaoui, Mohamed Chebaa, and Mohamed Serghini. The Villa also hosts a rich programme of temporary exhibitions presenting both established and emerging Moroccan and international artists, alongside photography shows, performing arts events, film screenings, literary gatherings, and music festivals. A special emphasis is placed on outreach to schoolchildren, university students, and young creative professionals, with workshops and educational visits regularly organized. The Villa des Arts has a sister institution in Rabat inaugurated in 2006, and both are central to Al Mada Foundation’s mission to democratize access to art in Morocco. Admission is free and the venue is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM.
