202 Elizabeth Surry Hills
Description
202 Elizabeth is a beautifully conceived and sustainably constructed 38-room boutique hotel on Elizabeth Street in Surry Hills — dubbed the ‘impossible build’ by local architects due to the extraordinary engineering challenge of inserting a six-storey cross-laminated timber structure into a tight inner-city site. The hotel was designed by interior designer Lisa Madigan in a colourful, eclectic modern style with no two rooms alike, featuring large balconies, rain showers, bathtubs in several rooms, luxury robes, complimentary minibars, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and curated works by Australian artists including Ash Leslie and Lean Timms. A peaceful private courtyard garden provides a serene retreat below, and a rooftop bar with sweeping views over Central Station and Surry Hills opens at sunset. A continental breakfast of freshly baked pastries, organic yoghurt, cold-pressed juices, and barista-brewed coffee is available. The hotel is dog-friendly, with selected balcony rooms accommodating pets and a dedicated welcome package. 202 Elizabeth is sustainably built with zero construction waste and uses goat-hair carpet throughout. Central Station is a six-minute walk. Circular Quay is 2.2 kilometres. Bondi Beach is twenty minutes by train from Central. The hotel is particularly popular with design-conscious families, creative professionals, and visitors exploring Surry Hills’ acclaimed dining and bar scene.
