Description

Tokyo Racecourse, operated by the Japan Racing Association (JRA), is the country’s most prominent and prestigious thoroughbred horse racing venue, located in Fuchu City on the western outskirts of the Greater Tokyo metropolitan area. The racecourse hosts two major racing seasons each year and is the venue for some of Japanese racing’s most revered events, including the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), the Yasuda Kinen, the Tenno Sho Autumn, and the Japan Cup, the latter being one of Asia’s most internationally recognised races and a fixture on the global racing calendar. Pari-mutuel wagering on JRA-licensed horse races represents a legally sanctioned form of gambling in Japan, and Tokyo Racecourse draws massive crowds on race days, with attendances regularly exceeding 100,000 for major events. The facility itself is vast and modern, featuring spacious grandstands, premium clubhouse facilities, restaurants, children’s play areas, and a horse racing museum. The JRA operates a sophisticated totalisator betting system both on-course and through its extensive off-track betting network, which includes JRA-PAT online wagering available to registered account holders. Fuchu Honmachi station on the Keio Line provides direct rail access from Shinjuku in central Tokyo in approximately 30 minutes, making attendance highly convenient for visitors from across the metropolitan area.
