Arany Kaviár
Description
Arany Kaviár, meaning Golden Caviar in Hungarian, is one of Budapest’s most storied fine dining restaurants, open since 1990 and located at the foot of Castle Hill in the historic Buda district. The restaurant has been recommended in the Michelin Guide continuously since 2018 and is consistently ranked among the top dining establishments in Hungary. As its name suggests, caviar is the jewel in the crown here, with nearly twenty varieties of Hungarian and Siberian caviar available, as well as dedicated caviar tasting menus and pairing experiences. The cuisine is guided by French and Russian culinary traditions, a heritage that stretches back to the restaurant’s founding by its half-Russian owner. Signature dishes that have featured on the menu since opening in 1990 remain as classics, alongside a tasting menu showcasing the chef’s finest current creations. The dining room is opulent and richly appointed, with crystal chandeliers, brocade fabrics, and an intimate, aristocratic atmosphere that transports guests to another era. A more modern extension opens onto the garden for seasonal outdoor dining. A dedicated chef’s table allows guests to experience the kitchen up close. The wine list is carefully curated, with excellent pairings available for the caviar and tasting menus. Arany Kaviár represents a singular and deeply traditional Russian-French dining experience that has endured at the very top of Budapest’s culinary scene for over three decades.
