Atomix
Description
Atomix stands as one of New York City’s most celebrated fine dining destinations, earning two Michelin stars and a consistent place on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Founded by Chef Junghyun ‘JP’ Park and his wife Ellia, the restaurant operates out of a beautifully minimalist space in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood and offers an intimate, counter-style dining experience. The tasting menu, currently spanning 10 or more courses, draws deeply from Korean culinary heritage while incorporating ingredients and techniques gathered from the chef’s time working in kitchens across the globe, including stints in London and New Zealand. Each dish is thoughtfully presented in bespoke ceramics and accompanied by an explanatory card detailing the dish’s inspiration, origin, and key ingredients. Guests can expect courses that might include cherry blossom trout with Korean mustard, wagyu contrasted with cold noodles, or seasonal seafood paired with fermented Korean condiments. The wine list at Atomix is equally rigorous, skewing toward white wines and sparkling selections that complement the menu’s strong fish and vegetable focus. The bar program upstairs offers a separate tasting experience in a more convivial setting. Reservations are notoriously difficult to secure, a testament to the restaurant’s worldwide reputation for exceptional hospitality, which earned it the James Beard Award for Outstanding Hospitality in 2023.
