Belon
Description
Belon is a Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant located in SoHo, Hong Kong, widely regarded as one of the most important and beloved French restaurants in the city. Part of the Black Sheep Restaurants group, the restaurant was originally established as a relaxed neo-Parisian bistro before relocating and reimagining itself as a significantly more ambitious fine dining destination under the direction of Executive Chef Matthew Kirkley — a chef who previously led Chicago’s L2O to two stars and San Francisco’s Coi to three stars and represented Team USA at the Bocuse d’Or 2019. Kirkley’s approach at Belon is built around sincerity: dishes are rooted in the deep classical tradition of French cuisine, executed with meticulous precision, and composed around the finest available seasonal ingredients — Asian and European — without recourse to unnecessary complexity or theatrical gesture. Signature dishes include the restaurant’s celebrated whole roasted chicken, designed for two and frequently cited as the finest version of this French bistro classic in Hong Kong, alongside a broader tasting menu of exceptional refinement. The interior is designed by Joyce Wang Studio, with deep blue cerulean tones, sculpted curved banquettes, and an atmosphere of intimate, elevated elegance. Service is gracious, unhurried, and deeply attentive. Belon is located at 1/F, 1-5 Elgin Street, Soho, and is essential for any serious engagement with French fine dining in Hong Kong.
