Earth Cafe was founded by entrepreneur Vicky Khatwani as Mumbai’s international vegan cafe, drawing inspiration from his experiences in the United States and a desire to bring clean, global plant-based cuisine to the city. The original Bandra West outlet on Waterfield Road, set above a popular boutique in Durga Chambers, has a distinctly millennial aesthetic — pastel walls, large windows overlooking the street, and an open, airy layout that has made it a favourite among health-conscious diners and Bollywood celebrities alike. Earth Cafe’s menu is entirely dairy-free and predominantly vegan, with extensive gluten-free options as well. The kitchen uses cashew cream, coconut milk, nut-based cheeses, and other plant-derived ingredients to recreate dishes that would ordinarily rely on dairy — and the results are consistently impressive. Highlights include vegan pizzas, Mongolian rice bowls with tofu, smoothie bowls, rainbow salads, raw pasta, and a selection of desserts including a highly acclaimed vegan cheesecake. Earth Cafe has since expanded to locations in Juhu, BKC, and Churchgate, and even operates within the Phoenix Palladium Mall in Lower Parel, bringing plant-based dining to a wider audience. The cafe is open all day from morning through late evening, making it suitable for everything from breakfast meetings to relaxed dinners. It is one of Mumbai’s most consistently celebrated vegan dining destinations.
