Description

ECK Restaurant is Slovakia’s most acclaimed fine dining destination and the sole recipient of four toques in the inaugural Gault & Millau Slovakia 2025 guide, achieving a score of 18 out of 20 — the highest rating awarded in the country. Situated in the historic Devín district on the edge of Bratislava, the restaurant occupies a purpose-designed glass-walled building surrounded by the Zlatý Roh vineyard, with sweeping views of the Danube River and the ancient Devín Castle. The property also incorporates a private sculpture garden featuring monumental artworks and a swimming pool, creating an experience that blends gastronomy, art, and nature into a singular vision. Behind the concept is chef Daniel Tilinger, named Gault & Millau Chef of the Year 2025, who trained at Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurant and at the acclaimed restaurant Ikarus at Hangar 7 in Salzburg before returning to Slovakia to create something never before seen in the country. His menu is rooted in radical regionality — ingredients are drawn from the restaurant’s own cattle farm and from artisan producers across the surrounding region — but prepared with the refined international techniques accumulated across a decade of European fine dining. A seven-course tasting menu is served each evening, featuring dishes such as cold-smoked trout with grilled sweetcorn, crispy potato millefeuille with caviar and sheep’s butter, and smoked cauliflower on letcho espuma. The wine cellar, overseen by sommelier Peter Lunter, holds eight thousand bottles. The restaurant also offers non-alcoholic pairings based on fresh fermented juices and vegetable foams.
