Gaspar’s Restaurant
Description
Gaspar’s is one of Vilnius’s most beloved and critically acclaimed restaurants, holding the Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction and recognised by the Falstaff Guide and 30bestrestaurants.lt as one of Lithuania’s finest dining destinations. The restaurant sits on the border of Vilnius’s Old and New Town, occupying a building with a long culinary history, where an original Yiddish restaurant sign above the door recalls the neighbourhood’s Jewish quarter past. Chef and owner Gaspar Fernandes was born in Goa, India, of Portuguese heritage, and trained at Le Cordon Bleu in London. This rich multicultural background is the beating heart of everything on the menu, which brings together subtle Indian spicing with the generous, produce-driven spirit of Portuguese cooking. The menu is intentionally concise and changes with the seasons, always anchored by the freshest available ingredients. A highlight is the signature dish known as My Mum’s Curry, prepared in several varieties and made with locally milled whole wheat naan bread that adds a distinctive nuttiness. Seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes all receive thoughtful preparation, and the wine list places particular emphasis on Portugal, with an excellent selection available by the glass. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, with a team that treats every guest as a valued personal visitor. Gaspar’s is an essential stop for anyone seeking exceptional flavours in Vilnius.
