Laser Wolf
Description
Laser Wolf Brooklyn opened in 2022 on the rooftop of The Hoxton Hotel at 97 Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, and it has become one of the most coveted reservations in New York City since its debut. The restaurant is a collaboration between Philadelphia’s acclaimed CookNSolo group, led by James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Solomonov, and Chicago’s Boka Restaurant Group. Named after Lazar Wolf, the butcher from the musical Fiddler on the Roof, the restaurant functions as a ‘shipudiya,’ a traditional Israeli skewer house where the charcoal grill is the heart of the kitchen and every dish is prepared with the direct, ancient intensity that only live fire can provide. The format follows Israeli tradition: the meal begins with a generous spread of salatim, rotating salads and dips that might include babaghanoush, gigante beans with harissa, pickled vegetables, snap peas with amba and grapes, and house hummus with warm pita. This communal feast is followed by a choice of charcoal-grilled skewers featuring proteins like lamb kofta, whole fish, and seasonal vegetables. The meal concludes with a signature brown sugar soft-serve ice cream that provides a sweet, casual punctuation. The rooftop setting, strung with lights and open to the Brooklyn sky, offers uninterrupted views of the Manhattan skyline over the East River. Weekend brunch is also available. Reservations open 21 days in advance and sell out quickly.
