Description

Nobu Downtown represents the culmination of a remarkable culinary journey that began when Chef Nobu Matsuhisa first opened in TriBeCa in 1994. Now located at 195 Broadway in Manhattan’s Financial District, the restaurant occupies a striking architectural space designed by David Rockwell, featuring a ground-level Bar and Lounge framed by heroic 30-foot limestone columns and a dramatic subterranean dining room with an intimate sushi bar. The cuisine at Nobu is the original blueprint for what the world now recognizes as ‘new-style Japanese,’ a seamless fusion of Japanese culinary tradition with the bold, acidic, and herbaceous flavors of Peru. Signature dishes like the Yellowtail with Jalapeño, Rock Shrimp Tempura in a creamy spicy sauce, and Black Cod marinated in sweet den miso for 48 hours before being broiled to silky perfection have become globally imitated classics. Nobu Downtown also offers seasonal omakase experiences and off-menu tasting menus at the sushi bar, as well as innovative cocktail and sake programs curated to complement the menu’s distinctive flavor profile. The restaurant is co-owned by Chef Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro, producer Meir Teper, and restaurateur Drew Nieporent, forming one of hospitality’s most celebrated partnerships. Winter and seasonal tasting menus are available nightly and provide an excellent introduction to the full breadth of Nobu’s kitchen.
