Description
Nour is one of Stockholm’s most distinctive and critically acclaimed fine dining restaurants, holding a Michelin star and occupying an intimate space on the third floor of a beautiful 19th-century townhouse at Norrlandsgatan 24 in the city centre. The restaurant was conceived by chef Sayan Isaksson, who is already celebrated in Sweden for earning Michelin stars at both Esperanto and Imouto — two restaurants that occupied the same building in Östermalm — and who has built his reputation on a singular ability to fuse Nordic and Japanese culinary traditions into a wholly original whole. The name Nour comes from Arabic and means light, reflecting the luminous clarity that Isaksson seeks in both flavour and presentation. The menu unfolds across five or eight tasting courses and is built almost entirely on premium seasonal Swedish produce, sourced with the same careful attention to provenance and sustainability that defines the best Nordic restaurants. Isaksson applies Japanese technique and philosophy — including house-made miso, fermented chili paste kanzuri, and koji — to elevate each ingredient with extraordinary subtlety. Signature dishes such as the okonomiyaki with black truffle from Gotland capture the quiet genius of the approach: deeply familiar in form yet transformed by the quality of the produce and the precision of the technique. The restaurant seats twenty-four diners in beautifully appointed rooms that feel both elegant and intimately domestic. The drinks programme is equally ambitious, pairing wines, sake, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options with equal thoughtfulness.
