Description

Ryôdô is Luxembourg’s only Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant, an intimate and serene dining destination that has become a benchmark of gastronomic excellence in the Grand Duchy since opening in March 2020. Under the direction of Chef Ryôdô Kajiwara, who trained under leading Michelin-starred chefs in both Japan and Luxembourg including Léa Linster and Ilario Mosconi of Mosconi, the restaurant presents a singular culinary vision: a thoughtful dialogue between the pure essence of Japanese tradition and the richness of Luxembourg’s seasonal produce. The dining room seats just 25 guests and was designed by Luxembourg architect Marie-Paule Greisen with a beautifully minimalist aesthetic of natural light wood and Japanese sobriety. Guests are served by staff in traditional attire, adding an authentic ceremonial quality to the experience. The menu changes with the seasons, featuring compositions built around ultra-fresh fish, exceptional meats such as A5 wagyu, local vegetables, and rare ingredients. Signature creations include langoustine and tofu tempura with cucumber dashi, cabbage leaves stuffed with wagyu and truffles in a truffle and beef stock, and the jewel of the tasting menu, a toro temaki with caviar. An outstanding selection of Japanese sake curated to enhance each dish is a particular highlight, alongside considered wine pairings. Ryôdô has earned rapid recognition, receiving a Michelin star in 2022 and consistently earning top scores from Gault and Millau.
