DISCO

DISCO is one of Tokyo’s most iconic and internationally acclaimed nail salons, founded and run by Nagisa Kaneko in the Jinnan neighbourhood between Harajuku and Shibuya. Since opening in May 2012, the salon has cultivated a devoted following among Tokyo’s creative industries and international visitors who plan Tokyo trips around a nail appointment. Nagisa’s approach is artistic and fearless — working in miniature gel painting with extraordinary precision to produce elaborate illustrations, abstract designs, anime characters, portrait art, and layered colour compositions. Work has been featured in Nylon Japan, Vogue Japan, and numerous international publications. The salon’s interiors draw from 1970s LA hotel aesthetics, with films playing on loop. Each nail artist uses their own dedicated electric nail file kit. DISCO also produces the THAW brand of nail polishes, hand balm, and nail oils, available in-store and online. A second location, Disco Root, operates near Meiji Jingu. International clients can book via Instagram direct message (pinned as the first post on the salon page). The salon is open Monday through Friday 10am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am to 7pm.
