Gruppo VéGé is one of Italy’s oldest and most respected independent grocery purchasing and wholesale cooperatives, founded in 1959 and operating as a fully private, member-owned organisation with no ties to any multinational retail group. With approximately 100 member companies operating over 4,000 retail and wholesale points of sale across Italy, VéGé is Italy’s largest independent food distribution cooperative by number of stores, serving both consumer retail and B2B professional wholesale channels. The cooperative provides its member distributors and wholesalers with centralised purchasing scale, private-label development, logistics coordination and marketing services, enabling independent Italian food businesses to compete effectively against large multinational chains while retaining full entrepreneurial autonomy. VéGé members include regional cash-and-carry operators, delivered wholesale businesses, independent supermarkets and specialty food distributors, collectively supplying millions of Italian consumers and thousands of food professionals. Its long history of supporting Italian independent food trade makes it a foundational institution in the country’s food distribution ecosystem.
