SUPRA – Slovak VET Centre Bratislava

SUPRA (Statny institut odborneho vzdelavania), formerly known as SIOV (State Institute of Vocational Education), is Slovakia’s principal national centre for the development and quality assurance of vocational education and training, based in Bratislava. The institution was established to support the modernisation of Slovakia’s VET system in line with European standards and labour market needs, and serves as the key national body responsible for developing vocational qualification standards, educational programmes, and assessment frameworks across all sectors of the Slovak economy. SUPRA provides professional training, methodological guidance, and continuing development support for VET teachers, instructors, and school management, and coordinates national quality assurance and monitoring activities within the Slovak vocational education system. The centre also functions as Slovakia’s National Reference Point for quality in VET and contributes to CEDEFOP’s ReferNet network, producing comparative research and policy analyses of VET developments across the EU. SUPRA participates in numerous European and internationally co-funded projects promoting innovation, digital transformation, and green skills development within Slovak vocational education and training. Its work supports both initial VET for young people and continuing professional training for adult learners and workers.
