Tokyo Cooking Studio is a welcoming and deeply authentic Japanese culinary experience space in Tokyo, founded and led by Yukari Matsushita, a Japanese chef and cultural ambassador who believes that food, people, and landscape are inseparable aspects of a shared human experience. The studio’s programme of Japanese cooking classes is designed to offer international participants a genuinely educational and culturally rich window into Japanese food culture, going well beyond the preparation of recipes to explore the traditional ingredients, tools, techniques, and seasonal philosophies that underpin Japanese cuisine. Classes are taught entirely in English and cover a range of classic and everyday Japanese dishes including dashi preparation, miso soup, Japanese rice, teriyaki, sushi, nimono simmered dishes, and seasonal specialities. The studio places particular emphasis on understanding where ingredients come from, how they are grown and produced, and why specific tools and methods are used in the Japanese kitchen. Beyond cooking classes, the studio also offers other curated culinary activities and seasonal food experiences that provide participants with a broader appreciation for Japanese culture through food. Class sizes are kept small to ensure a personal and interactive experience, and both group and private session formats are available.
