Description

Bernardaud is synonymous with the finest tradition of Limoges porcelain, a craft rooted in the discovery of kaolin near Limoges in 1768. Founded in 1863 by Léonard Bernardaud, the company has remained under family leadership across five generations, currently guided by Michel Bernardaud, and carries out all production in Limoges — at its historic Avenue Albert Thomas factory and a second site at Oradour-sur-Glane. Bernardaud is the premier manufacturer and exporter of porcelain tableware in France, employing 330 people and producing pieces that grace the tables of Michelin-starred restaurants, royal households, diplomatic residences, and the most discerning collectors worldwide. Its enduring strength lies in an extraordinary balance between the preservation of traditional artisanal technique — with one of its master craftsmen holding the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France title — and a commitment to bold contemporary design. Artists including Roy Lichtenstein, Marc Chagall, Olivier Gagnère, and Hervé van der Straeten have all collaborated with the Bernardaud workshops. The Bernardaud Foundation, established in 2003, hosts an acclaimed annual summer exhibition of contemporary ceramics. Guided factory tours are available throughout the year. Boutiques are located in Limoges, Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, and Strasbourg, with an online store serving customers worldwide.
