E. Dehillerin
Description
E. Dehillerin is one of the most celebrated and historically significant cookware shops in the world, operating from its current address on Rue Coquillière in Paris’s 1st arrondissement since 1890. The origins of the business date to 1820, when the site was already a copper-working establishment serving the culinary trades of Les Halles, Paris’s great market district. Now in the hands of the fourth generation of the Dehillerin family, the shop has supplied professional chefs, pastry artists, and home cooks for two centuries, earning an enduring global reputation for the quality and breadth of its stock. E. Dehillerin is best known for its exceptional range of copper cookware — including sauté pans, saucepans, roasting vessels, and specialist pieces — produced to professional standards and built to last a lifetime. The shop also carries an extraordinary inventory of professional knives, carbon steel pans, cast iron pieces, baking molds, pastry tools, specialist kitchen gadgets, and serving equipment, much of it sourced from leading French and European manufacturers. The interior of the shop preserves its 19th-century character, with creaking wooden floorboards, tiered shelving units, and a basement level filled with further treasures. Its status as a cultural landmark was cemented in part by the enthusiasm of Julia Child, who was a devoted regular and introduced E. Dehillerin to a wide American audience. The shop now operates a full online store and ships internationally, though nothing replaces the experience of exploring its atmospheric aisles in person.
