الوصف

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the world’s leading facility for giant panda conservation, located in Chengdu in China’s Sichuan Province. Founded in 1987 with just six rescued giant pandas, the centre has grown into a globally recognised research and breeding institution that has successfully raised more than 200 panda cubs. The base operates across a beautifully landscaped 247-hectare site designed to replicate the natural mountain forest habitat of the giant panda, offering visitors a rare opportunity to observe pandas and red pandas in naturalistic enclosures. The centre’s scientific work includes research into panda reproduction, genetics, disease prevention, and behavioural ecology, with findings shared through international academic partnerships. The base also runs important education and awareness programmes, welcoming school groups, researchers, and tourists from around the world. Its commitment to breeding giant pandas for eventual reintroduction to the wild represents one of the most ambitious conservation goals in modern zoology. Chengdu Panda Base is an unmissable destination for anyone visiting Sichuan and a cornerstone of global giant panda conservation.
