Rabat Zoo
الوصف
Rabat Zoo, officially known as the Jardin Zoologique de Rabat, is a modern zoological park located in the Hay Riad neighbourhood of Morocco’s capital city. Opened in 2013, it is one of the most recently established major zoos in Africa and was designed from the outset with contemporary standards of animal welfare and habitat design at its core. The zoo covers 54 hectares and is home to more than 1,200 animals representing around 115 species, with a strong focus on African wildlife including lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and hippopotamuses, alongside species from other continents. Naturalistic enclosures replicate the animals’ native environments as closely as possible, ensuring high standards of wellbeing. Rabat Zoo is committed to conservation and participates in international breeding programmes for endangered species, working in coordination with recognised zoological organisations. Educational programmes and informative exhibits are designed to engage visitors of all ages and promote awareness of biodiversity and environmental protection. Its modern facilities, accessible location within the capital, and strong conservation ethos make Rabat Zoo a key attraction in Morocco and an important institution for wildlife education in North Africa.
