The Royal Bangkok Sports Club Racecourse is one of the oldest and most distinguished sporting institutions in Thailand, operating from its landmark facility in the Pathumwan district of central Bangkok since 1901. As one of only two venues in Thailand where pari-mutuel betting on horse races is legally permitted under Thai law, the RBSC Racecourse holds a unique position in a country where gambling is otherwise broadly prohibited. The racecourse occupies a vast 160-acre site surrounded by Bangkok’s urban landscape, creating a remarkable green oasis in the centre of the city. Racing takes place on alternating Sundays with the competing Royal Turf Club, and race days attract thousands of punters who gather in the grandstands and betting halls to follow the form and place licensed wagers through the club’s official totalisator system. The RBSC is a private members club with a distinguished history and social prestige, but race day access is available to the public through day memberships and general admission tickets. In addition to racing, the club grounds encompass a golf course, tennis courts, and other sporting facilities available to full members. The Pathumwan location near Central World and MBK shopping centres places the racecourse in central Bangkok, accessible by BTS Skytrain to the National Stadium station. Race days represent one of the most authentic and legally available betting experiences in the Thai capital.
