الوصف

EssenCiel is a landmark of contemporary Belgian gastronomy, established in 2013 by chef Niels Brants and sommelier Romina Charels in a grand townhouse on Bondgenotenlaan in Leuven. The restaurant earned its Michelin star in 2019 and has since built a formidable reputation for creative, produce-driven cooking that places vegetables at the heart of the experience. Chef Brants sources exceptional ingredients with passion and ingenuity, crafting dishes that surprise with their depth and originality while remaining grounded in recognisable flavours. A signature creation might take three variations of gambero rosso — a tartare with acidic sides, a Japanese-inspired chawanmushi of prawn in Bellota ham aspic, and a savoury emulsion of prawn heads with soy seeds — demonstrating both technical mastery and a genuine sense of playfulness. Sommelier Luc Roelandt guides guests through an impressive wine list with a natural and biodynamic focus. The Scandinavian-inspired interior gives the restaurant an airy, welcoming feel, while the private patio and kitchen garden offer a magical setting in summer. Gault&Millau has consistently awarded the restaurant high scores, most recently naming Niels Brants Young Chef of the Year in Flanders. EssenCiel is open Tuesday through Friday for both lunch and dinner, closed on weekends and Mondays.
