Cloughjordan Ecovillage
الوصف
Cloughjordan Ecovillage is one of Ireland’s most ambitious and internationally recognized sustainable community projects, located in the village of Cloughjordan in County Tipperary. Established in the 2000s, the ecovillage integrates organic community farming, renewable energy, ecological building, and shared social infrastructure into a model of sustainable living. The community farm is a central feature, managed collaboratively by residents using organic and permaculture principles to produce food for the community and local markets. The farm operates as a Community Supported Agriculture scheme, providing members with regular shares of seasonal produce and fostering direct relationships between farmers and food consumers. The ecovillage also includes a woodfuel district heating system, ecological homes built to high energy efficiency standards, and a range of community facilities. Cloughjordan serves as a living demonstration of sustainable land use, energy management, and community organization, attracting researchers, students, and sustainability practitioners from across Ireland and abroad.
