Description

Le Travi is an intimate Italian osteria and natural wine bar nestled in Vilnius’s charming Užupis neighbourhood, an independent-spirited district of art galleries and creative workshops. Holding the Michelin Bib Gourmand award, the restaurant was created by Genoese chef-owner Mattia Rupilis, who brings an uncompromising dedication to authenticity and simplicity to every plate. The setting is wonderfully rustic and informal, spread across two compact rooms with a style that feels both cramped and convivial in the best tradition of genuine Italian trattorias. Guests are encouraged to take a seat at the kitchen counter to watch the chef at work, which adds to the immersive sense of hospitality. The menu, written on the walls and changed weekly, typically comprises around eight dishes crafted entirely from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Everything is made in-house, from the handmade pasta and freshly baked bread to the gnocchi. Dishes might include ox tongue with tonnata sauce, tagliatelle with rich ragù, or zucchini flowers and ravioli, all prepared with a pure Italian sensibility and no unnecessary embellishment. The natural and low-intervention wine list is curated by Mattia himself, covering a constantly evolving selection from around the world grouped by style, and the team is always happy to recommend pairings. Reservations are strongly advised, as the small number of seats fills quickly.
