Agroecology Europe
Descripción
Agroecology Europe is a pan-European association dedicated to promoting agroecology as a scientific discipline, a set of farming practices, and a social movement. Established in 2016, the association connects researchers, farmers, food system actors, educators, and policymakers across Europe in a shared effort to advance agroecological approaches to food production and land management. The organization’s Italian node is based in Rome and is affiliated with the wider Agroecology Europe network. Agroecology Europe advocates for the integration of agroecological principles into European agricultural policy, particularly the Common Agricultural Policy, and works to ensure that public funding increasingly rewards farming practices that deliver ecological, social, and economic benefits simultaneously. The association organizes scientific conferences, workshops, and policy dialogues, producing publications and position papers that contribute to European debates on sustainable food systems. Key thematic areas include soil biodiversity, landscape management, participatory plant breeding, food sovereignty, and the social dimensions of agricultural transitions. By building a community of practice that spans disciplinary and national boundaries, Agroecology Europe plays an important role in creating the knowledge base and political momentum needed to accelerate the agroecological transformation of European agriculture.
