Descripción

The Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) is a Finnish foundation dedicated to restoring the ecological balance of the Baltic Sea through action in the agricultural sector and beyond. Based in Helsinki, BSAG operates the Carbon Action platform, one of Finland’s most significant initiatives in carbon farming and regenerative agriculture. The platform brings together over 100 pioneering farmers with researchers, companies, and public institutions to develop and test carbon sequestration practices in Finnish soils. Carbon Action provides a structured framework for trialing regenerative farming methods, measuring soil carbon changes, and developing voluntary carbon market mechanisms suited to Finnish conditions. BSAG works at the intersection of environmental science, farming practice, and policy, using evidence from its pilot programs to advocate for policy changes that incentivize sustainable land management. The foundation also promotes the reduction of nutrient runoff from agricultural land, a major driver of eutrophication in the Baltic Sea. Through its Carbon Action initiative and related programs, BSAG is at the forefront of Finland’s effort to make farming a solution to climate and environmental challenges.
