Restaurant d’Artagnan
Description
Restaurant d’Artagnan is a quietly distinguished fine dining address in Leuven’s historic city centre, occupying a magnificent townhouse on the Naamsestraat just steps from the Grote Markt. Chef Ernest Kalse and gastvrouw Sandra De Vriese have built an outstanding reputation for hospitality that is warm, attentive, and unhurried, making every guest feel genuinely welcomed. The kitchen operates with a dual philosophy: a classical menu for those seeking familiar anchors of French tradition, and a creative tasting menu for guests seeking exploration. Both share the same commitment to freshness, seasonal sourcing, and respectful treatment of the produce. Memorable preparations have included potato rösti with cauliflower tartare and piccalilly, and a duo of Irish beef — filet alongside pulled shoulder — with girolles and oyster mushrooms. The elegant interior with its majestic entrance hall, warm lighting, and original architectural details provides a refined backdrop for both business lunches and celebratory dinners. A charming garden terrace at the rear offers a welcome escape in fair weather. One of d’Artagnan’s rarest assets is its private on-site parking, bookable in advance — a genuine luxury in the centre of Leuven. Closed on Mondays and Saturdays; open Tuesday through Friday for both lunch and dinner.
