Agroecology Works! Switzerland

Agroecology Works! is a Swiss multi-stakeholder network active since 2019, dedicated to promoting agroecological principles and driving sustainable transformation of the country’s agricultural and food systems. The network was co-founded by SWISSAID, Biovision, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Fastenopfer, and several other organizations committed to advancing agroecology both in Switzerland and internationally. Its membership has grown to include farming organizations, research institutions, NGOs, and local agroecological initiatives. The network’s primary goals include raising public awareness about agroecology, building bridges between actors in the Swiss agricultural sector and international food system stakeholders, and advocating for systemic policy change. Agroecology Works! promotes the integration of agroecological principles into Swiss agricultural, food, and foreign policy, and organizes annual Agroecology Days — a nationwide series of events featuring farm visits, film screenings, expert panels, and workshops. The network is also a member of Agroecology Europe, contributing to European-level dialogue on sustainable food systems. Rather than functioning as a centralized institution, Agroecology Works! operates as an open platform for collaboration and exchange, supporting diverse actors in putting agroecological ideas into practice. Its work addresses the full spectrum of agroecological principles including biodiversity, resource efficiency, social equity, and climate resilience.
