ZSL London Zoo

ZSL London Zoo is one of the world’s most historic and scientifically respected zoological institutions, located in the northern corner of Regent’s Park in the heart of London. Founded in 1828 by the Zoological Society of London, it is the world’s oldest scientific zoo, established not for public entertainment but for scientific study. Today the zoo is home to more than 20,000 animals representing approximately 700 species, and remains deeply embedded in conservation science through its parent organisation, the Zoological Society of London, which conducts fieldwork in more than 50 countries.
