Jafferji House Zanzibar
説æ
Jafferji House is one of Stone Town’s most beautifully conceived independent hotels, a heritage property restored and personally curated by local photographer Javed Jafferji whose internationally exhibited work hangs throughout the public spaces and rooms. The building is a showcase of traditional Zanzibari craftsmanship: hand-carved wooden doors of extraordinary complexity, ornate stucco ceilings, Persian-influenced arched windows, and interior courtyards that catch the Indian Ocean breeze. Nine individually styled rooms are furnished with antique Zanzibari pieces, premium linens, air conditioning, and free Wi-Fi, each creating a distinctly different atmosphere while sharing the same commitment to quality and cultural authenticity. The rooftop restaurant is one of the finest in Stone Town, combining sweeping views of the historic waterfront with a menu of freshly caught seafood, Swahili spice-infused dishes, and locally sourced ingredients. The location in the heart of Stone Town’s historic Shangani quarter places guests within a five-minute walk of virtually every major landmark: the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, Forodhani Gardens, Beit el Ajaib, and the narrow lanes of the spice bazaar. Tours of the island, sailing dhow trips, and spice farm excursions can be arranged through the hotel’s concierge.
