Carbon 12

Carbon 12 was founded in 2008 by Kourosh Nouri and Nadine Knotzer, making it the first gallery in the UAE to initiate a comprehensive, firmly global programme of institution-grade artists. Housed in Warehouse 37 of Alserkal Avenue, the gallery operates five to seven exhibitions annually and supplements these with publications, artist talks, and community engagement initiatives that bring international discourse into the local art ecosystem. The programme is deliberately non-geographical in its focus, seeking to build cross-cultural exchange between artists from the region and those from Europe, the Americas, and beyond, treating visual language rather than national identity as the primary currency. The gallery has collaborated internationally with Macaulay & Co in Vancouver and Fierman in New York. Carbon 12 has developed a strong reputation for championing experimental and conceptual practices across painting, sculpture, video, and installation. The gallery’s website operates under the domain carbon12.art, reflecting its commitment to the art field as a discipline in its own right. Open Monday to Saturday, 11:30am to 7pm.
