Greenheart Organic Farms

Greenheart Organic Farms is a pioneering organic farming operation based in the Emirate of Sharjah, producing a wide range of heirloom organic vegetables, fruits, and greens in the UAE desert. Founded in 2012 by Elena Kinane, Greenheart began with a single grow-house and a few vegetable patches and has grown to encompass over 80,000 square meters of farm area, including 30 cooled grow-houses, animal enclosures, and open fields. The farm is built on a commitment to genuine organic principles, using only farm-made compost derived from crop residues and manure from its resident goats, chickens, and cows — all kept in large open enclosures for their welfare and their contribution to soil fertility. Greenheart maintains the only heirloom seed bank in the Gulf region, preserving over 160 traditional crop varieties that are particularly well-adapted to desert growing conditions and can be reproduced from season to season without purchasing commercial seed. The farm uses drip irrigation exclusively, drawing water from underground wells and filtering it on-site, minimizing consumption in an environment where water is precious. Greenheart delivers fresh produce to customers throughout the UAE through a home delivery service and operates a farm shop in Dubai’s Business Bay district. Its products are sold without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or artificial fertilizers, meeting rigorous organic standards. Greenheart Organic Farms is recognized as one of the UAE’s most authentic and committed organic food producers.
