描述
The Louis Bolk Instituut is an independent Dutch research foundation dedicated to developing knowledge on sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and human health. Founded in 1976 and based in Bunnik, the institute employs approximately 70 researchers who conduct applied and participatory research in close collaboration with farmers, practitioners, governments, and businesses. Core research themes include organic and regenerative farming, agroecology, soil biology, biodiversity, climate resilience, and the relationship between food quality and human health. The institute operates across the interface of science and practice, translating complex research into actionable tools, guidelines, and training programs that support farmers in adopting more sustainable methods. The Louis Bolk Instituut collaborates extensively with the Dutch government, European Commission, provinces, water boards, and a wide range of civil society organizations. Its work contributes to European research programs on sustainable food systems and nature-inclusive agriculture. As a Public Benefit Organization (PBO) with non-profit status, the institute reinvests all resources into its mission. Its independent and holistic approach, informed by a respect for the integrity of living systems, distinguishes it from conventional agricultural research institutions and makes it a trusted partner in the transition toward sustainable food production.
